Ben Curry, of Electrical Innovations, speaks to Zano Controls in this quick-fire round of questions, including the day-to-day challenges of being a business owner and which Zano product he always keeps in the van.

Why did you become an electrician?
When speaking to my careers officer at school, I told them I wanted to fix televisions, so they advised that I apply for an electrical apprenticeship. 26 years later, and I haven’t repaired a single television - but I have fitted hundreds.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
It’s always the people. We have built relationships with so many great customers over the years, with plenty developing into lifelong friends.
What’s the most interesting job you’ve completed to date?
Solar farms have always been fascinating to me. There is something otherworldly about thousands of solar panels in a field, with the only company being the sunshine and wildlife around you.
What are the biggest challenges you face day-to-day?
I’m off the tools at the moment as I’m running the business, so the most common day-to-day challenge for me is getting the job done on time, and to our usual high standards, despite the hundreds of moving parts we can come up against.
What services have been most in demand this year?
Battery storage has been particularly popular. We have also carried out more EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports) than usual.
Fun fact about you?
I have played Warhammer in 8 different countries! These include Serbia, Poland, Switzerland and the USA.
How did you find out about Zano Controls?
We asked our wholesaler for ‘a dimmer that just works and won’t have any problems’ – and we were given the recommendation of Zano Controls.

If you could rewire anyone’s house, who would it be?
Taylor Swift (my daughter would love to meet her!).
