Billy Smith of Harrison Electrical speaks to Zano Controls in this quick-fire round of questions, answering his most interesting job to date, the most in demand services and what motivated him to become an electrician.

Why did you become an electrician?
My dad always said to me, “pick yourself a trade, and you will always have work”. I was interested in electronics at school, so I knew when the time came that that was the trade I would choose.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I mostly enjoy the variety that you get with this trade. Every day is different to the next. One day I might be fitting an EV car charger, and the next I might be wiring up a bowling alley!
What’s the most interesting job you’ve completed to date?
It has to be working on The London Stadium. Being a West Ham fan myself, I couldn’t believe my luck to be able to work on this project.
What are the biggest challenges you face day-to-day?
The biggest challenge is whether I will get offered a tea or coffee on the job (times are tough, aren’t they Billy…).
What services have been most in demand this year?
The most in demand services over the past year have to be summer houses and home offices. With the increase in office workers working from home, there have been many home office projects we have been working on.
Fun fact about you?
I am the biggest country music fan! You will always hear me blasting out the country tunes when on the job.

I heard about Zano Controls when searching for dimmers on an LED dimming job – and now I recommend them.
What’s your go-to Zano product?
That would be the flicker-free dimming modules.
If you could rewire anyone’s house, whose would it be?
That would have to be Tom Stoltman (two-time World’s Strongest Man winner), so I can get a few tips on the gym…
