The ZBARLED Remote Dimming Pack – LED Lighting Case Study Roundup

The ZBARLED Remote Dimming Pack – LED Lighting Case Study Roundup

Multiple points, large loads, and difficult-to-dim drivers.

As electricians or lighting designers, you have undoubtedly encountered these in your LED dimming projects more than once – and when faced with them, you start to think of the complexity, expense and hassle it may take to find a solution.

That's why we developed the ZBARLED range of remote dimming packs – and they have become known amongst installers, architects and specifiers as a 'get-out-of-trouble' product to make complex LED lighting systems so simple to control.

Don't just let us tell you, though. Read on to see how the ZBARLED has been the perfect solution for a new build home, a stately home's ballroom (complete with chandeliers) and a 'hero' of one restaurant's energy-efficient, vintage lighting overhaul.

But first, here's what you need to know about the ZBARLED…

Here's what you need to know about the ZBARLED:

  • It's a 300W/VA, 1000W/VA or 1-10V remote dimming pack.
  • It's designed to dim large LED loads that you can also dim from multiple control points, and it can be paired with up to 32 of Zano's own rotary controllers for multi-point dimming on a single circuit.
  • It works perfectly with ‘difficult’ varieties of LED lighting, such as LED strip lighting, LED panels and LED tape, without the need for bespoke control systems.
  • You can fit it without redesigning existing wiring or resorting to computer programming.
  • For large projects over 1000W/VA, you can wire it in parallel through a break in the circuit or junction box.

Now that you know what the ZBARLED is capable of, let's see it in action:

1. Trevose Close, Constantine Bay, Cornwall

When homeowners of a stunning new-build property overlooking the Cornish coastline settled on an 'upside-down' layout for their home, their electrician and interior designer knew immediately that LED strip lighting would bring out the best of their striking apex ceiling.

However, with 9 more lighting circuits, a mix of LED downlights, wall fittings and spotlights to control, the complexity and cost of controlling this lighting system could have gone through the roof.

Luckily, they designed the system with the ZBARLED from the start, creating a seamless installation with a stunning result. Read about it here.

2. Hopetoun House, Edinburgh

Three chandeliers, 90 LEDs, and countless 'years of frustration' for the maintenance teams that had to change as many as 20 LEDs a week due to an outdated lighting control system.

In this project, taking place in a stunning 18th-century ballroom, the client needed to make their LED control solution simple, effective and minimise time-consuming maintenance – all while preserving the 'wow' factor of three brilliant chandeliers.

Type: Chandelier LED lighting retrofit

3. The Dial, Burton-on-Trent

In an upscale restaurant and bar like The Dial in Burton-on-Trent, ambiance is everything.

The venue had a vintage feel achieved by soft, warm halogen lighting – downlights, globe lamps and candles. However, home the time to upgrade to more energy-efficient, cost-effective LED, the ownership needed to ensure the upgrade in performance didn't downgrade the experience of its patrons.

In this project, time and a skittish supplier were the issue, leaving the owners of The Dial facing an incredibly costly and complex lighting control problem that needed to be solved fast.
